An engaging nature orientation workshop under the Wings of Awareness program—an initiative spearheaded by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) and supported by the Buimerc India Foundation—was successfully hosted at MGM NSS HSS, Lakkattoor. The event commenced with a welcome address and inauguration by Headmistress Smt. Swapna B. Nair, followed by an introductory address by Dr. Nelson P. Abraham, Vice President of TIES, who outlined the vision and objectives of the conservation initiative. During the technical session, Mr. Sarath Babu, Nature Education Officer and Project Coordinator, educated the students on bird ecology, identification techniques, and the ecological significance of avian conservation. Adding a digital citizen-science dimension to the program, Ms. Arathi Sasidharan, Project Officer, introduced the students to the CROW App, demonstrating how to track, record, and document local bird species during field observations. The workshop witnessed active participation from both students and teachers, marking an inspiring step toward nurturing young environmental stewards in the region. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Girish M. G., Staff Secretary, who expressed his appreciation to the organisers, resource persons, teachers, and students for their active involvement and support in making the programme a meaningful and engaging learning experience.
