St.Joseph’s HS, Mattakkara hosted an interactive environmental session as part of the Wings of Awareness campaign, a nature-education project spearheaded by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) and supported by the Buimerc India Foundation.

The program opened with formal greetings from Teacher Coordinator Sri. Lalu Alex, who welcomed the gathering. Delivering the inaugural talk, Dr. Nelson P. Abraham, Vice President of TIES, introduced the project's core mission and stressed the importance of outdoor learning in modern education.

During the primary workshop, Mr. Sarath Babu, Nature Education Officer and Project Coordinator (Wings of Awareness, TIES), trained participants on avian habits, key field identification markers, and the ecological role of wild birds. Bridging technology with field research, Ms. Arathi Sasidharan, Project Officer (Wings of Awareness), demonstrated the CROW App, teaching students how to record local avian observations for citizen science initiatives.Reni, Teacher Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the programmes. The session sparked immense enthusiasm among students, marking a successful beginning for green learning at the school.
