TIES Green Talk 2025: Exploring AI and Social Engineering with Dr. Sibichen K. Mathew, IRS

Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) is proud to announce the next session in its acclaimed Green Talk Series, featuring Dr. Sibichen K. Mathew IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Chennai. The talk, titled "AI & Social Engineering: Ethical and Regulatory Challenges", will be held on Thursday, 19th June 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 Noon at Grove Hall, TIES campus, Velloor.

A distinguished civil servant, researcher, and author, Dr. Mathew brings deep insights into the intersection of technology, governance, and social dynamics. With postgraduate degrees from premier institutions including IIM Bangalore, JNU, and Syracuse University, and a PhD in Fiscal Sociology, he has held key positions in the Income Tax Department and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Dr. Mathew’s talk will examine how emerging AI technologies are shaping social behavior and governance, and the ethical and regulatory frameworks required to address these transformations. His recent publications, including You Just Got Cheated and When the Boss is Wrong, reflect his deep engagement with contemporary socio-economic issues.

Since 2008, TIES Green Talk Series has served as a platform for meaningful dialogue on ecological, social, and technological challenges. The 2025 series continues this mission by fostering conversations that promote sustainable and resilient futures for both communities and ecosystems.
