MMMUM UPS Karakkad organized the inaugural program and orientation class for "Wings of Awareness," an environmental learning project centered on bird watching, implemented by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) with support from the Buimerc India Foundation. The event opened with a welcome speech by Teacher Coordinator Yedhu Krishnan R, after which Headmistress Mrs. Sameena V. K. formally inaugurated the session. Dr. Nelson P. Abraham, Vice President of TIES, presented an introduction to the project, outlining how observing birds fosters mindfulness, curiosity, and respect for nature. An engaging workshop on bird identification and ethical watching practices was led by Mr. Sarath Babu, Nature Education Officer and Project Coordinator at TIES, followed by an introduction to the CROW App by Ms. Arathi Sasidharan, Project Officer at TIES, to enable students to record species sightings digitally. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Teacher Coordinator Muhammed Asim, motivating the young learners to actively explore the biodiversity around them.
