“This is so new!” exclaimed Bhagavat., a 3rd -grade student from Malgudis International School, Chengannur, as he eagerly explored the interactive sessions of the Total Quality Child Training programme. Bhagavat was one of 18 enthusiastic participants in this thoughtfully designed training, organized under the Enjoy Learning Skills initiative of the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES).
This 4–5 hour, focused study package is designed to equip students with specific, actionable skills they can apply at home and in school. The recent session, conducted in collaboration with Sudarsanam Central School, Aranmula, and Malgudis International School, Chengannur, empowered students with key personal development and life management abilities.
Through a blend of engaging activities and reflective discussions, the children explored key life skills such as self-awareness, communication, teamwork, and environmental responsibility. The training focused on “Total Quality Child” principles—empowering children to become confident, curious, and compassionate learners equipped for real-world challenges.
TIES Vice President and International trainer Dr. Nelson P Abraham set the tone for the day with a motivational talk on “Becoming a Quality Child in a Changing World.” His session emphasized values, resilience, and the importance of building a strong character alongside academic growth.
Children participated in activities that helped them understand their strengths and work effectively with peers in a joyful and supportive setting.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Karthika Pillai., Ms. Anjali G, Ms. Rajalekshmi, Ms. Vrindha M, Ms. Drisya T K, Ms. Vidya V Kumar, Ms. Sabitha K Cand Ms. Anjali from the participating schools, with support from the TIES team: Mr. Sarath Babu N. B. (Nature Education Officer), Ms. Anoopa Mathews (PRO), Ms. Martina Sandra and Mr. Jijomon P. P. (Graphic Designer).
