TIES regularly conducts training programmes on eco-friendly mushroom cultivation. The training programme is conducted by the Division of Mushroom Farming and Research at TIES. An experimental farm with more than 100 beds is maintained in the campus. Research activities mainly focus on farmer level problems such as microbial contamination at various levels and increased shelf life of mushroom and mushroom products. More than 2000 people from different walks of life have undergone mushroom farming training so far and have formed a Mushroom Club under TIES. Special training sessions are also being conducted for school and college students in batches under the ‘Earn While You Learn’ programme. The research and training programme focus on two species of cultivable mushrooms in India: Milky mushroom (Calocybe indica) and Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus sp.).
